4-202.15 - Can Openers: Cutting or piercing parts of can openers shall be readily removable for cleaning and for replacement.
4-205.10 - Food Equipment, Certification and Classification: Except for toasters, mixers, microwave ovens, water heaters, and hoods, food equipment shall be used in accordance with the manufacturer's intended use and certified or classified for sanitation by an ANSI-accredited certification program.
(REPEAT) The large can opener is no longer approved due to it requiring a tool to disassemble it to allow proper cleaning of the can piercing blade. Discussed with PIC the details of approved options (The kind that uses a pull pin to easily remove the blade for quick and proper cleaning). When replaced, replace it with an approved one that does not require any added tool to allow cleaning of the blade. Contact the health department at (910)253-2338 with any questions. |
