4-205.10 - Food Equipment, Certification and Classification: Except for toasters, mixers, microwave ovens, water heaters, and hoods, food equipment shall be used in accordance with the manufacturer's intended use and certified or classified for sanitation by an ANSI-accredited certification program.
Observed a hot plate device being used to cook grits. The device appears to be domestic-use only rather than commercial. If commercial, then submit manufacturer documentation to this Department for review and approval for the noted use. However, if found to be domestic-use only, then it must be removed from the establishment. Submit the required written documentation within 10 days from today's date to Mrs. Dana Cavenaugh at dana.cavenaugh@brunswickcountync.gov.
4-501.11 - Good Repair and Proper Adjustment: Equipment shall be maintained in good repair.
Observed that rust is starting to form on small surfaces of the shelving in the TRUE 2 door upright reach-in cooler. |

6-303.11 - Intensity: The light intensity shall be at least 20 foot candles (FC) at hand washing stations.
Observed the type of lights used in light fixture over the utensil wash sink are a lower luminosity. Checked light intensity and it measured 21 FC over left end of the utensil wash sink but only 17 FC over the drainboard on the far right end where it is required to be at least 20 FC. Replace the lights in the light fixture to be brighter (Daylight type) so as to increase light intensity to at least 20 Foot Candles (FC) in all areas of the utensil washing station. |
