General Comments**Prepare disinfectant between 500-800 ppm chlorine daily. 15A NCAC 18A .2819 (c ) and .2801 (7). Observed disinfectant with concentration less than 500ppm chlorine according to the test strips provided by Mecklenburg County Health Department. No points taken because I discussed with the PIC correct concentration and ask how do they prepare the disinfectant for the classrooms. PIC presented the test strips that they were using to test the disinfectant and according to their test strips, the concentration of the disinfectant were within the 500ppm to 800ppm concentration level and were considered in compliant with the 2800 rules. PIC also stated that at the time of opening, the inspector from Mecklenburg County came provided educational guidance on what kind and type of test strips to use to test the sanitizer and disinfectant and also provided them with a complimentary bottle of strips to use. PIC pulled all disinfectants and remade them to meet compliance with the test strips that I have on hand provided by Mecklenburg Health Department. ***FYI: "Disinfecting Solution" means a solution containing 500 to 800 parts per million (ppm) of chlorine. A disinfecting solution can be made by mixing a solution of one-quarter cup (2 fluid ounces) household liquid chlorine bleach with one gallon of tap water (or one tablespoon of liquid household bleach in one quart of water) and prepared fresh daily. In addition, products registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as hospital grade germicides or disinfectants or as disinfectants for safe use in schools, child care centers, institutions or restaurants are also approved disinfectants, provided the manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheets are kept on file at the child care center. A testing method shall be made available to ensure compliance with the prescribed bleach solution concentration.
