General Comments
No Points Deducted Today: 4. Observed the milk in the Infant 2 room at 52-53F. Discarded and the bottles moved to the kitchen refrigerator. After returning towards the end of the inspection, the empty refrigerator was at 40F. **CHECK THE THERMOMETER EACH TIME THE REFRIGERATOR IS OPENED** (Critical Item) All potentially hazardous food products shall be maintained at 45°F, or below, or 140°F or above. 15A NCAC 18A .2806 (f) 7. Kitchen employee was asked to provide the thermometer that she uses to temp food. She produced a hot temp thermometer. She was informed that she needs to use a thermometer that can temp cold items as well (45F or below). A digital thermometer was later found (in a bin of pins) by the inspector. Employee was informed to clean the thermometer, store it in a clean place, and use it. Provide a numerically scaled metal stem-type thermometer accurate to 2°F. 15A NCAC 18A .2807 (h) 11. Two employees were asked to provide the test strips, and no one knew where they were. The strips were later found by the inspector in one of the kitchen drawers. **The test strips must be used to ensure the sanitizer and disinfectant bottles are at the correct strength. Provide sanitizer test kit. 15A NCAC 18A .2812 (g) 23. Observed a large cardboard box (art project) stored in the restroom between the Toddler and Infant 2 room. Follow the rule below. Limit storage in restrooms to toileting and diapering items only. 15A NCAC 18A .2817 (a). 29. Observed an unlocked box with disinfectant wipes and an aerosol spray in Infant 1. Keep all hazardous items locked. All hazardous items must be stored behind lock and key. 15A NCAC 18A .2820 (b). (Critical Item) **IMPORTANT NOTE: Per the back of the Chloroglass packet, to use it as a Disinfectant, the contact time is 10 minutes. Per the employees doing diaper changes, they allow the disinfectant to stay on the changing pads a minimum of 2 minutes. IF THE FACILITY CONTINUES TO USE CHLOROGLASS AS DISINFECTANT, THERE MUST BE A 10 MINUTE CONTACT TIME IN BETWEEN DIAPER CHANGES. If the facility decides to use bleach to make a disinfectant, the 2 minute contact time will work. (Sanitizer/Disinfectant Makeup Guide emailed).
