General CommentsNO POINTS: #3: Food shall be free from spoilage, filth, or other contamination and shall be safe for human consumption. 15A NCAC 18A .2804 (a). Observed some dented and rusted #10 cans. Cannot use in childcare. If it's church's food keep separated and labeled as such. Best and safest practice is to get rid of it. #27: Diapering surfaces shall be smooth, intact, nonabsorbent, easily cleanable and shall be approved by the Department. Nothing shall be placed on the diapering surface except for those items required for diapering. 15A NCAC 18A .2819 Observed small tear in diaper changing pad in infant room. #39: Light bulbs must be shatterproof or shielded. 15A NCAC 18A .2826 (a). Observed lights not shielded or shatterproof in boy's bathroom, after school area. #29: critical violation corrected. Refigerator in closet is not approved to be there. Since it has been there for several years it can only hold unopened milk jugs. No opened or prepared foods. Best practice is it not be used for childcare at all. It is in poor repair and points will be taken in future if still used. Washer /dryer not to be used unless in laundry closet where venting outside can occur. Kitchen addition is for church use. Do not store paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, styrofoam plates) or any child care supplies in that room. Room is still subject to be looked at for compliance.
