General CommentsUnused medication cups shall be kept covered or inverted. 15A NCAC 18A .1318 (c). Observed medication cups on top of two med carts without being covered or inverted. All furniture, bed springs, mattresses, sleeping mats, draperies, curtains, shades, venetian blinds, or other furnishings in institutions shall be kept clean and in good repair. 15A NCAC 18A .1319 (a). Observed a ripped chair in west hallway living room. Washing machine #1 is programmed to automatically add the correct amount of chlorine to a laundry load, the rest of the washing machines require chlorine to be added manually. Per conversation with employee, she stated she adds approximately 2 capfuls of chlorine to each load of linens and wasn't sure if the amount she adds was enough to achieve sanitizing of sheets. Recommend using machine 1 only when washing resident linens or researching correct amount of chlorine required to sanitize linens.
