General Comments

No points were issued for the following: 3. Observed two water stained ceiling tiles outside of room 310. Needs to be replaced. Ensure that leaks are not ongoing. **Keep all walls and ceilings clean and in good repair. 15A NCAC 18A .1310. 10. Observed a dirty urinal sitting on the floor beside the trash during inspection. Ensure that dirty disposable urinals are placed in garbage cans rather than sitting them on the floor. **All bedpans/urinals/emesis basins shall be cleaned after each use. 15A NCAC 18A .1312 (c). 17. Observed one water fountain on 3HC in need of cleaning. Ensure that fountains are being cleaned at a high enough frequency so that build up does not occur. **Drinking fountains shall be kept clean and properly regulated. 15A NCAC 18A .1314 (a). 32. Observed torn pillow in room 370. Pillow was removed from resident's room. Ensure pillows are being checked periodically for damage. **All furniture, bed springs, mattresses, sleeping mats, draperies, curtains, shades, venetian blinds, or other furnishings in institutions shall be kept clean and in good repair. 15A NCAC 18A .1319 (a). 35. Observed several hair rollers with hair still in them. Hair rollers should be cleaned thoroughly between users. Ensure that containers holding hair rollers are also cleaned. **Patient contact items that become contaminated during use shall be cleaned and disinfected after each use. 15A NCAC 18A .1319 (c). 43. Observed one refrigerator in room 256 missing a thermometer. All refrigerators should have a thermometer in them to ensure they are holding at proper temperatures. **All refrigerators shall have a thermometer and situated so that the thermometer can be easily read. 15A NCAC 18A .1323 (b).
